What’s a powder coat finish?

Powder coating is one of the newest, most-durable finishes available. The powder is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is sprayed onto a surface. The charged particles adhere to the electronically grounded surface. Then they are heated into a smooth coating in a curing oven. The result is an attractive, durable, high-quality finish. Powder coat finishes are more resistant to chipping, scratching, UV damage, and rust. Powder coating is one of the most environmentally-friendly finishes because it does not contain solvents and releases negligible amounts, if any, of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere.
